Program Overview:

The Kansas Black Farmers Association (KBFA) Land Access Grant (LAG) is a comprehensive program designed to support underserved farmers and ranchers. It provides a variety of resources, including down payment assistance, farm viability funding, tuition and fee reimbursement, workshops, and technical assistance. The grant is a multi-year initiative with the support of key project partners and a variety of specialists.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to underserved farmers and ranchers across the five-state region.
  • Participants must demonstrate the need for funding to support their agricultural endeavors.

Key Components:

  • Down Payment Assistance: We offer financial aid to help farmers purchase farmland, making it easier for you to secure the land you need to grow your operation. This assistance is designed to lower the barriers to entry for new and established farmers alike, ensuring that you can invest in your agricultural future with confidence.
  • Farm Viability Funding: Our Farm Viability Funding is tailored to support farmers facing emergency financial needs. This program provides essential resources for credit repair, legal assistance, and other urgent financial challenges.
  • Tuition and Fees Reimbursement: We understand the importance of education in agriculture. Our Tuition and Fees Reimbursement program offers financial support to cover educational expenses, including training programs, workshops, and courses that enhance your skills and knowledge.

Services Offered:

  • Technical Assistance: Includes one-on-one and group support to connect farmers with USDA programs.

  • Training and Workshops: Participants have access to a variety of educational opportunities such as grazing schools, agribusiness programs, ranching schools, and more.

  • Annual Capstone Conference: A three-day conference will be held in the fifth year, bringing together project personnel, contractors, and farmer participants.
